Brian Franke is an independent award-winning singer/songwriter residing in the Washington, DC area. His music has been described as "honest and personal reflections" on life events, social issues, and politics. With a voice like Michael Stipe, heartfelt lyrics like Elliott Smith, and the social awareness of Bruce Springsteen, his music fits into such genres as rock, pop, and indie folk.
In 2009 he began a full-time music career playing frequently in the Washington, DC and Baltimore areas at such venues as Iota Club and Café, Jammin Java, and Nationals Ballpark. The following year he released his debut solo album "Six Blocks Down" which was touted as "a strong effort from a talented local musician" by On Tap Magazine. Following the release, he toured on and off for 10 months before focusing on writing for his next album, which will be out in 2013.
The fall of 2012 brought a new project along as Brian and Sara Davenport began playing their music together and eventually started a duo, calling themselves FarAway. Their voices blend incredibly well and they always receive warm responses from the audiences they play to. On stage they energize each other by being playful and passionate, and have impressed audiences at such venues as the Hard Rock Café, The Hamilton, many Virginia wineries, and private engagements.
