Brian Franke is an independent award-winning singer/songwriter residing in the Washington, DC area. He is known as both a frequently booked cover song musician as well as an original songwriter. Since 2009 he has made music his career playing over 200 shows each year both locally and as a touring artist. He has released two independent solo albums “Six Blocks Down” in 2010 and “Will You Finish My Song?” in 2014 as well as an EP with his duo FarAway, “Somehow” in 2013.
As a cover song artist, Brian is one of the most versatile and frequently booked artists out there playing a range of rock music at fun and rowdy bars such as Daniel O’Connells, O’Sullivans, and The Light Horse to the Virginia winery scene playing singer/songwriter and folk music. His cover songs range from classic rock songs, to 90s alternative rock, to Top 40 songs currently on the radio.
Brian has also played top venues in the DC area and the country as an original artist. These venues include Jammin Java, Iota, The Hamilton, The National Underground and Bluebird Café in Nashville, and The Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas. His original sound has been compared to such artists as Pete Yorn, Vertical Horizon, and Toad the Wet Sproket combining catchy melodic pop with folk rock.
Along with his solo career, he is the other half of the folk-pop duo FarAway who have shared the stage with such artists as Phillip Phillips, Griffin House, and Carolina Story as well as playing the Virginia State Fair, Arlington County Fair, the Northern Virginia Beer Festival and other large festivals. Brian is a highly respected musician in the DC area music community supporting artists through open mics he hosts and songwriting groups. He recently released his 2nd solo effort, “Will You Finish My Song?”, which is available on iTunes and his online store.
